Water levels are receding, and Norfolk Southern’s Engineering Department is working to restore service in affected areas. We estimate service on the route to and from Kansas City will be restored Sunday, June 16. There will continue to be delays associated with slower track conditions and congestion, and customers should continue to expect delays of 24 to 48 hours on traffic moving through this area. The embargo will remain in effect on traffic received from other carriers through the Kansas City gateway. Norfolk Southern anticipates being able to lift this embargo on Monday, June 17, or shortly thereafter, although the final determination will be made after service is restored. Norfolk Southern will continue to work with other carriers to clear affected traffic.
Norfolk Southern appreciates your patience and will continue to provide updates as conditions change.
