Julius Lott
The Diversity Council was pleased to present Mr. Julius Lott to speak on February 17th, 2009 in the Atlanta DR Goode office building. Mr. Lott was expressive and entertaining in his delivery. He walked us through the experiences of his childhood and the path he chose as an adult, which led him to an organization that was founded on diversity. He spoke about how successful diversity programs are in providing young people with the skills and inspiration they will need to build democratic multicultural communities and workplaces. He also spoke on how it is important for us all to read about all the cultures that make up our communities, and develop an honest interest in becoming culturally skilled. People no longer live and work in an insular marketplace; we are now part of a worldwide economy with competition coming from nearly every continent. Norfolk Southern has recognized respecting individual differences increases productivity, and is a critical element for an organization’s success. A diverse workforce brings high value to organizations. |
