The Norfolk Southern Safety Expo was held April 22, 2009 at the David R. Goode building in Atlanta, GA. The theme this year was “All Aboard for Double Zero”. This was a prime opportunity to connect face-to-face with NS employees and visitors to share the diversity message. Attendance at the Diversity booth was estimated at 700 visitors. As visitors were greeted by members of the Diversity Council both past and present, they were asked to point and shoot a toy dart gun at any area on the system map to learn some not-so-well known facts about the people, customers, and working environments in those areas. The purpose of the game was to demonstrate that diversity is present everywhere. There was plenty of fun to be had, along with information on how diversity impacts our workplace, workforce and marketplace. Norfolk Southern celebrates, cultivates and uses all the best talents of its employees to become the safest transportation company in the world.
