Norfolk Southern has a long history of working with a diverse group of public partners to help implement sensible and informed solutions to logistical issues and safety concerns that can impact the communities where we live and work.

The Norfolk Southern Public Private Partnership team is made up representatives from several different departments, including Strategic Planning, Government Relations, Engineering and Operations. They work in collaboration with state agencies, local governments, and regional planning organizations to help better utilize federal and state funding opportunities.

Through a variety of resources, such as project planning, grant writing, administrative assistance, and letters of support, Norfolk Southern is able to help those looking to take advantage of state or federal funding opportunities. We encourage communities and agencies interested in learning more about how the company can help you reach your infrastructure project goals, to fill out the form below. Federal Grant Opportunities

On November 15, 2021, The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) was signed into law.

Also known as the "Bipartisan Infrastructure Law," this legislation represents a generational investment in America's intermodal transportation system, where freight rail plays an integral role. The investments will help to make our nation’s rail network safer, more reliable, resilient, sustainable, and equitable. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will provide unprecedented amount of federal funding for rail improvement projects across America over the next five years. It includes $102 billion in total rail funding, which will help expand existing Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) programs and creating new programs to enhance our nation’s rail network.

You can find a breakdown of the various FRA grants that have been funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law HERE.
