Tariff Alert Update - NS 1000 Effective 07.01.2025

Norfolk Southern is adopting updates to the Coal Tariff 1000 effective July 1st, 2025. Please reference the attached files for further details. For any questions regarding these updates, please contact your Norfolk Southern representative.

Effective July 1st, 2025, Norfolk Southern (NS) will be making changes to the following tariffs: 

• Coal Tariff NS 1000

Below is a brief description of the changes to the tariffs. 

• Item 110 Winter Season Freeze Proofing: Updated language regarding when freeze treatment is required
• Item 113 Rejected Coal, Coke, & Iron Ore: Added language regarding rejecting coal at terminal due to safety risks or potential damage to equipment 
• Item 400 Conditions Governing Demurrage at NS Transload Facilities G. Reconsignment: Updated to flat charge of $120/car
• Item 400 Conditions Governing Demurrage at NS Transload Facilities  F. Demurrage Calculation: Increase 30+ days daily rate to $120/car/day
• Item 503 Dumping Charges: Updated verbiage
