NewCold, an automated storage and cold chain logistics firm founded in the Netherlands with a North American base in Chicago, reported on Oct. 24 that it would build and operate a large-scale distribution facility at the Midland Industrial Park in McDonough, Ga. To be served by NS, the facility is slated to create 170 new jobs.

In Virginia, NS and the Hampton Roads Community Foundation will distribute $1 million each year over the next five years to nonprofits through the Norfolk Southern Hampton Roads Community Fund.

“Hampton Roads helped shape who Norfolk Southern is today and we continue to view giving back to this community as a priority,” the Class I railroad reported on LinkedIn. “The grants will support initiatives intended to advance education, innovation, community enrichment and the environment.”
