Honoring Our Heroes: NS Partners with Wreaths Across America and J.B Hunt
This year, Norfolk Southern was proud to continue an annual tradition of supporting Wreaths Across America (WAA) in partnership with J.B. Hunt, with a mission to remember and honor the sacrifices made by our nation's veterans.
This year, NS transferred thousands of wreaths from our trains to J.B. Hunt’s trucks in Ayer, Massachusetts—the starting point for delivering wreaths to cemeteries across the nation. With Norfolk Southern sponsoring wreaths and J.B. Hunt handling logistics, armed forces and local veterans' partner with communities to bring this impactful initiative to life
Norfolk Southern Chief Operating Officer, Ed Elkins was on the ground in Marietta to personally participate in the wreath-laying ceremony on December 14. NS volunteers worked alongside the Young Marines and Boy Scouts of America transferring and placing wreaths on veterans’ graves, ensuring every hero was remembered.
“This meaningful experience reminds us of the importance of WAA’s mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach. We are privileged to join their efforts during this holiday season and remain committed to never forgetting those who paid the ultimate price in service to our country. " – Ed Elkins
In addition to volunteering, Norfolk Southern provided a $100,000 donation to strengthen WAA’s work to remember and honor veterans across the nation. Norfolk Southern is proud to support such a meaningful cause and to continue partnering with organizations like J.B. Hunt and Wreaths Across America. This initiative embodies our values while uniting local communities to honor the sacrifices of our nations’ heroes.
