John Orr recognized by Railway Age as an Influential Leader

John Orr, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has been named one of Railway Age’s 10 Most Influential Leaders. John and the other honorees were selected by readers in an online poll.

 

A proud fourth-generation railroader, John has worked his way through the ranks—from conductor to union leader, various transportation management roles, and several executive leadership positions at multiple Class I railroads. With 40 years of experience, John has built a reputation as a proven transformation leader in applying scheduled railroading principles while achieving safety and service excellence.

 

In just over a year at Norfolk Southern, John has driven positive and rapid operational improvements by working cross-functionally to implement his PSR 2.0 approach at NS. His leadership has transformed Operations, delivering sustainable improvements in both service and operating efficiency.
