Tim Morris honored as a 2026 Railway Age “Fast Trackers” 25 Under 40 recipient

Norfolk Southern congratulates Tim Morris, Hub Manager, Mid-Atlantic IMAU (intermodal automotive), for being named one of Railway Age’s 2026 “Fast Trackers” 25 Under 40 honorees.

Improving performance through collaboration

Tim has spent 12 years in the rail industry, building a track record grounded in safety performance, strong execution and people-first leadership.

As a leader at the Harrisburg Intermodal Yard (HIY), Tim has focused on strengthening daily performance through clearer communication, improved partner coordination and a relentless focus on doing the job the right way.

What he’s accomplished

• Safety performance: Through consistent job briefings, in-field safety checks, and focused accountability, HIY achieved derailment-free year in 2021 with no incidents caused by a rule violation.
• Terminal efficiency: In 2025, Tim led implementation of a bobtail lane at HIY, creating an additional entry and exit outside the main lane to help expedite drayage flow. The result was driver dwell time consistently below the 37-minute goal, averaging closer to 30 minutes.
• Partner coordination: Tim strengthened alignment between Norfolk Southern teams and third-party lift operations by convening face-to-face meetings and helping eliminate communication barriers. He also helped establish a new Standard Operating Procedure requiring pad placement for inbound trains four hours in advance, reducing chassis-related drayage issues by approximately 70% and helping HIY meet availability goals.
