On Nov. 13, Norfolk Southern opened its vintage business train to the public for the first time ever. The Tracks of Hope event raised vital funds for Hope Atlanta’s 125th anniversary, bringing community leaders together for an unforgettable journey through Atlanta.

All proceeds from the event directly benefited Hope Atlanta’s mission to provide housing, resources, and support to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Why it matters: Hope Atlanta has been a lifeline for those in crisis. Last year, Hope Atlanta answered 3,000 calls a month from people in crisis. This year, that number has grown to 15,000 each month. NS has donated and raised $600,000 to advance the nonprofit’s mission this year.

Key details around the partnership

  • Historic connection: The partnership celebrates shared roots: Hope Atlanta was founded in a train station, reflecting a deep tie to Norfolk Southern’s heritage.
  • Employee match & volunteerism: NS employees played a key role in supporting Hope Atlanta through hands-on volunteerism and giving. With a 2:1 company match, their contributions went even further, helping us raise more funds and deepen our impact across the community.
  • Corporate Hero of the Year: Hope Atlanta honored Norfolk Southern at its 25th annual Heroes for Hope Gala for leadership in addressing homelessness and hunger.
