New Resource to Streamline Rail Project Planning and Approvals

Norfolk Southern is launching a new educational webinar for engineering consultants designed to help rail-served development projects move from concept to construction more efficiently. Developed through a collaboration between our Industrial Development and Design & Construction teams, the webinar will give rail engineers a clearer understanding of Norfolk Southern’s track design standards and engineering review process.

Because many customers rely on third-party engineering firms to design rail infrastructure, the quality and completeness of submitted plans play a critical role in project timelines. This webinar is intended to provide consultants with practical guidance on Norfolk Southern’s standards, common design challenges, and best practices that can help streamline the engineering review process.

By improving consistency and alignment with established requirements, Norfolk Southern expects the program to deliver meaningful benefits for customers, including streamlined engineering reviews, fewer redesigns, and more predictable project schedules. It also supports stronger collaboration among customers, consultants, and Norfolk Southern teams throughout the project life cycle.
