ETHICS & COMPLIANCE

Norfolk Southern employees have a responsibility to seek advice if they have questions or concerns regarding suspected violations of The Thoroughbred Code of Ethics, NS policy, or applicable law. Additionally, the NS Reporting Hotline provides an independent and anonymous (if desired) platform for employees to confidentially report concerns or incidents related to workplace safety, discrimination, harassment, and employee conduct.

If contacting a supervisor or senior manager is not practical, or if you’re just not certain what to do, call the  NS Reporting Hotline (866-357-5034); the Hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Reports to the NS Reporting Hotline can also be made by  submitting an online report. Be prepared to describe the situation in detail, providing the basic who, what, when, where, why, and how.

While Hotline reports can be made anonymously, employees are encouraged to give their name and contact information for follow-up. All Hotline calls are reviewed and as appropriate, investigated in the most confidential manner possible. At times, Hotline calls are referred to other groups, including human resources, law, or department management.

During any investigation of alleged violations, employees are expected to cooperate fully and truthfully so that the matter can be properly investigated and resolved, with appropriate actions taken.

Norfolk Southern does not tolerate any act of retaliation against an employee who reports, in good faith, what they believe could be a violation of law, rule, regulation, NS policy, or The Thoroughbred Code of Ethics.
