Norfolk Southern’s 2025 Holiday Train brought joy to communities across New York on Dec.13, in partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and Amtrak. This festive five-stop journey wasn’t just a train ride – it was a celebration of giving, featuring thousands of donated toys, activities, and heartfelt moments shared with families, volunteers, and first responders.

The day kicked off at East Binghamton Yard with a spirited community event, complete with Santa’s arrival, Toys for Tots volunteers, refreshments, and family-friendly fun before the train rolled out to spread holiday cheer throughout the capital region.

Why it matters

  • At each stop, local families received donated toys, along with necessities such as blankets, hats, and gloves.
  • In addition, local nonprofits greeted the train at each stop and were provided with hundreds of toys for the families who could not attend in-person.
  • The Holiday Train strengthened NS’ connection with the communities along its network.
  • The partnership brought together railroads, nonprofits, members of the U.S. military, and first responders for a day of service and celebration.

Key details: The Holiday Train visited five stops:

What they’re saying

“The Holiday Train is one of the most joyful ways we connect with our communities. Partnering with Toys for Tots and Amtrak allows us to deliver more than toys, we’re delivering moments of hope and excitement for families across New York.” — Kristin Wong, Director, Norfolk Southern Foundation & Community Impact.

The bottom line: By combining rail tradition with community service, the Holiday Train continues to be a meaningful way Norfolk Southern spreads holiday cheer and supports families along its network.
