Keeping Chicago safe and thriving through partnership and innovation

By Chad Previch, Senior Communications Manager

As part of Norfolk Southern’s commitment to keeping communities safe and thriving, we awarded a $100,000 grant to the Chicago Police Foundation to help it combat crime across the Windy City.

The contribution, through Norfolk Southern’s Safety First Grant Program, supports the foundation’s mission to provide resources that supplement the Chicago Police Department’s capabilities, ensuring officers have the tools and technology needed to serve Chicagoans safely and effectively.

Why it matters

  • Community safety: The drone and vehicles purchased will help prevent theft before it happens, saving local businesses, law enforcement and residents time and money.
  • Strong partnerships: The Chicago Police Foundation works together with the Chicago Police Department to identify needs and secure innovative resources for the city.
  • Shared commitment: The investment builds on NS' long-standing collaboration with local law enforcement to enhance safety across its 22-state network.
