Why it matters
Each year, the 73-room Ronald McDonald House of Alabama and the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at UAB Women & Infants Center provide more than 20,000 overnight stays. Together, they save families more than $7.4 million in food and lodging expenses, allowing parents and caregivers to focus on what matters most: supporting their children.
What they’re saying
“Norfolk Southern is proud to partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama to support families when they need it most. The grant and train table reflect the care and pride our railroaders bring to the communities we serve, and we hope both gifts will make a lasting difference for children receiving care and their families.” – Kristin Wong, Director of the Norfolk Southern Foundation and Community Impact.
This latest support builds on Norfolk Southern’s $450,000 donation to Children’s of Alabama in 2025, which is helping the hospital double its critical care space and strengthen health care education and simulation training programs.
Together, these investments reflect Norfolk Southern’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of children and families in Birmingham and across the communities it serves.
