A year of meaningful progress across safety, reliability and technology

Norfolk Southern’s Mechanical team made exceptional progress in 2025, delivering measurable improvements that strengthened safety, enhanced fleet reliability and advanced the use of smart technology across our network. The team deployed new tools, refined daily operational execution and aligned their efforts to build a stronger, more resilient and more efficient railroad.

“This year’s results reflect accountability, strong collaboration and a commitment to doing things the right way,” said Brian Barr, Vice President and Chief Mechanical Officer. “We’ve continued to accelerate innovation while maintaining exceptional accuracy across our operations.
