Kristin Wong named to Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2026 40 Under 40 list
The Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under 40 program recognizes rising leaders across metro Atlanta who are making a significant impact in their industries and communities through innovation, leadership, and service.
Norfolk Southern congratulates Kristin Wong, head of the Norfolk Southern Foundation and Community Impact, on being named to the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2026.
Since stepping into her role in 2022, Kristin has led a transformation of Norfolk Southern’s philanthropic and community engagement strategy, building a business‑aligned approach that strengthens communities while supporting long‑term enterprise value.
She brings a people‑first leadership style shaped by her early career as a teacher in Title I schools and more than seven years of experience at Norfolk Southern across human resources and transformation roles, including support of the company’s headquarters relocation to Atlanta.
What she’s accomplished
Strategic realignment: Kristin helped redefine the Foundation’s focus around four clear pillars — safety, sustainability, workforce development, and thriving communities — ensuring community investments are targeted, locally informed, and aligned with company priorities.
Expanding impact: Under her leadership, Norfolk Southern has more than doubled its annual charitable giving, increasing from $9 million to more than $18 million across the company’s 22‑state network.
Atlanta investment: Kristin led landmark contributions in the Atlanta region, including support for public safety, health care, civil rights, and cultural institutions, reinforcing Norfolk Southern’s long‑term commitment to the community.
Employee engagement: Under her leadership, the community impact team launched ten new programs connecting employees to community impact, including expanded matching gifts, skilled‑trades scholarships, disaster relief and employee hardship funds, and volunteer engagement initiatives.
