During National Hunger Action Month this September, Norfolk Southern committed over $1 million in contributions to 53 organizations across the company’s network to combat food insecurity through our grants programs. Combined with ongoing partnerships with local food banks, these grants, which total over $3.1 million since 2021, are directly supporting efforts to ensure children, families, and seniors have access to food during everyday challenges and times of crisis.

Why it matters: Food insecurity continues to affect millions of Americans. Strengthening food banks not only meets immediate nutritional needs but also equips communities to respond swiftly and effectively during times of crisis.
