Welding a stronger future in Tennessee
Graduates of the City Fields welding training program in Cleveland, Tennessee recently reached a major milestone — completing an intensive workforce development program designed to prepare them for in‑demand careers in the skilled trades.
The program, delivered by City Fields in partnership with Norfolk Southern, equips participants with hands‑on welding instruction, industry‑recognized certifications, and job‑readiness skills that support long‑term career opportunities.
Hands‑on training with real‑world impact
Through support from NS’ Thriving Communities grant program, students completed a two‑week welding bootcamp at Cleveland State Community College, combining technical instruction with workforce readiness training.
Graduates earned American Welding Society (AWS) certifications, a nationally recognized credential that expands career mobility and earning potential in a critical trade. NS is true believers in the power of a career in welding. That’s why our training center is Georgia’s longest-running accredited testing facility by the American Welding Society.
Celebrating a milestone moment
Graduation day marked more than a ceremony — it represented a turning point for individuals overcoming barriers to employment and stepping confidently into high-demand, rewarding careers in the skilled trades.
Prior to the ceremony, NS Welding Manager John Deaton, conducted certification testing for participants, reinforcing the importance of safety, quality, and industry standards.
